WHY COMPLETE CONCUSSION IS A PART OF OUR FAMILY
As the story goes - it takes one to know one - and concussions we know.
Our involvement in the concussion world started well before we operated Back in Action. Dr. Scott worked as an exercise scientist and cheerleading coach, where concussion is a very common injury. Through his experience we brought on our own version of the management of concussion into the office, treating patients through a step-by-step approach to getting them back to work/school and their athletic commitments.
Right after opening the office in 2012, Dr. Lauren was rear-ended in an accident on the highway. She herself suffered a concussion and worked her way through it with the methods we used in the office to treat our own patients. There was one thing however that was missing - how were we going to always stay on top of the most up-to-date information on concussions if it was always changing and improving?
Rather than re-inventing the wheel, we decided that we were going
to partner with and join the Complete Concussion Management
organization - a team of individuals whose focus and mission is to
improve the collective understanding of the prevention, management
and prognosis of concussion, and provide high quality, accessible and
patient-centric care based on the latest scientific and medical research.
HOW WE HELP OUR PATIENTS
Back in Action Health and Performance Centre is a proud clinic of the Complete Concussion Management (CCMI) Partnership Program - a network of clinics around the world offering evidence-based concussion care.
What is a concussion?
A concussion is a brain injury caused by acceleration or
deceleration of the brain within the skull following a
significant impact to the head or elsewhere on the body.
The impact causes a biochemical imbalance within the
brain cells, resulting in decreased blood flow and
temporary energy deficits within the brain.
Symptoms may include loss of consciousness, headache,
pressure in the head, neck pain, nausea or vomiting,
dizziness, or balance problems, among others.
In conjunction with CCMI, we offer concussion treatment services & strategies including:
Cervical Spine Rehabilitation and Therapy
