About the event

For the 24 th year, the On the Slopes for Candy Ski Day is organised by The Canadian

Shaare Zedek Hospital Foundation, with Presenting Sponsor WEALTHinsurance.com.

This annual event is organized to raise funds in support of The Huberfeld Neonatal

Intensive Care Unit at Shaare Zedek Medial Center in Jerusalem. As a result of On The

Slopes For Candy Ski Day, over $1 million has been raised in the past 23 years to

benefit excellence in neonatal care at the hospital.

This year the event is scheduled to be held on the 2 nd of March at Alpine Ski Club, Blue

Mountain. It is known for bringing together large numbers of ski lovers, as well as

donors each year to celebrate the event, and support this most important cause.

Shaare Zedek Medical Center opened an advanced centre dedicated exclusively to the

care of women and children. As the first facility of its kind in Israel, the hospital provides

services to people of all races, religions, and political views, regardless of their race,

religion, or political opinion.

Over 1,000 high risk infants are cared for at The Huberfeld Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

(NICU), which opened in February 2014. With 70 beds, it is one of the largest such

facilities in Israel. With its state-of-the-art facilities, the NICU provides the tiniest, most

fragile patients with world-class medical care. Approximately, five percent of the 22,000

babies born at the Shaare Zedek hospital need to be monitored and treated by the

NICU.

As the hospital receives minimal funding from the Israeli government, Shaare Zedek

Medical Center relies heavily on the generosity of donors in the diaspora to keep up

with the hospital's needs for equipment, research, and education.

It has been part of Back in Action's corporate social responsibility initiatives to support

this annual event for the past seven years. As a Multidisciplinary Clinic located in

Lawrence Avenue West, North York, Ontario, Back in Action provides the ultimate

preventative and proactive rehabilitation experience by combining evidence-based

science with objective performance metrics. The clinic was established over a decade

ago by the experienced duo, Dr. Scott Christie, and Dr. Lauren Karatanevski.
